Hi,
I am about to apply to Psychology programs with a view to becoming a clinical neuropsychologist. I have a GPA of 4.0 currently, and GREs verbal 700, quantitative 760, and analytical writing 4.5. The area of psychology that completely captivates me is the functioning of the Brain, I really enjoyed the BioPsych class. My undergraduate honors thesis is studying the development and decline of different forms of memory across the lifespan.
I have had a look at some programs based on references from APA division 40, but some of the programs like SDSU/UCSD, UCLA, Arizona I can't apply to because I don't have the subject GRE.
I have 3 approaches really
1) Apply to programs with Specific Neuropsych tracks (Houston etc)
2) Apply to as good a clinical program as I can get on and then concentrate on Neuropsych at PostGrad level
3) Wait a year, take the GREs, try and get my research I am doing for my honors thesis published and generally work to make my application the best i can get it to be
any advice as to the pros and cons of each approach, and schools that are a) worth me applying to because they are great programs for Neuropsych b) not worth applying to because they are beyond my reach.
Do I need to focus more on specific areas of neuropsych at this stage?
regards Carl |
