Hello gang. My name is Dan, and I'm currently a vice principal of an alternative/charter high school in Chicago. My program consists of over 150 16~21 y.o. high school dropouts who were retrieved to complete their degrees (NCA accredited H.S. diploma). The group is very diverse and consists of approx. 30% Hispanics, 30% African Americans, 30% Caucasians, and 10% Asians, Native Americans, and so forth. Stressors contributing to their innitial reasons for dropping out of school include teen pregnancy, gang violence, being bored in a magnet prog., etc.

So, I'm sitting on a gold mine here in terms of research population, i.e. easy access to the sample, willingness of the students to participate (they get extra credit in their science class for research participation), etc.

As for me, I'm also a grad student in a neuropsych program... how convenient. I have done some research already, namely on executive function comparisons with LD/BD, ADHD, and Heaton norms. I would like to look at attentional functions in this population and so on. This is a hard population to study, as most school boards will not allow research proposals on their population. However, this is a golden chance for people reading this post to access this population for neuropsych measures.

Publication is my goal. So, if anyone is interested in doing some good work, AND have access to some resources you think I may be interested in, reply on this site and we'll get together over email first.

Thank you for reading.
