Hello

My name is Tina and I am a sophomore(10th grade) in high school. I was looking up future careers in psychology and came upon neuropsychology im still unsure if this is "my calling" but i'd like to know more about this occupation from the experts. I don't exactly have the best grades in school but i am in honors science and english and in B level math

Any pointers or words of advice.... Smile

Hello!!!! Very Happy

I am also a sophomore in high school who is considering a career path in neuropsychology. It would be great to hear from an actual neuropsychologist.
I do very well in school and take advanced classes in math, science, english, and history. Please help us!! Confused

I am a neuropsychologist, or in the process in any case. I am a post-doctoral fellow in neuropsychology. It is a big field in some respects, in that there is a diversity of career opportunities, both clinically and within research disciplines.

In general, a Ph.D. or Psy.D. is necessary. A Ph.D. is the traditional route.
In undergrad, I would consider majoring in psychology with a minor or double major in a hard science, such as physics, biology, or the like. Getting involved in research and clinical opportunities as an undergrad is a good idea. Trying to understand to the best of your ability what a neuropsychologist does is a good idea, to make sure that is the career path on which you wish to embark. A psychology undergrad major is flexible, but easy. Supplementing it with harder science courses, or a double major, is a good idea. That way, if you decide against pursuing graduate psychology, you may already have the pre-requisites for medical school. Law school and business school are also nice post-graduate options. A psychology undergrad degree by itself will not get you much.
