The VA Palo Alto Health Care System announces an opening for its 2-year optometric research fellowship program. The fellowship program takes place in a cutting edge research and clinical program with emphasis on low vision and traumatic brain injury related vision loss and offers a variety of excellent research mentorship opportunities. We are particularly interested in post resident optometrists who seek to broaden their career potential through research experience. Vision scientists at Palo Alto currently have collaborative funded projects with colleagues at the University of Southern California, Stanford University, and Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute as well as VA funded studies.
The selected fellow will be able to participate in ongoing research as well as developing their own research project if they so desire. Current funded projects include:
· Development of a consensus vision screen for use by optometrists serving patients with mild
traumatic brain injury
· A controlled clinical study of rehabilitation strategies for hemianopsia. |
