I'm about to enter my 2nd year in a MA program in Clinical Psych but have been recently having doubts about wanting to continue in this path and have been becoming increasingly interested in the neuropsych field. One of my profs is one of CT's most popular neuropsychologists and his influence has been beginning to push me into the neuropsych field. The only problem is that the first neuropsych course I'll be taking in my entire life will be in the coming fall so I will be graduating with an MA in Clinical and will have only 6 or 9 credits in Neuro to my experience. I plan on continuing onto a PhD program ASAP after graduation and if I decide to do it in Neuro I dunno how competent I'd feel...any suggestions on readings that would be helpful so I can do a bit of learning on my own or any advice that may be helpful to this confused grad student? Thanks all

Doesn't matter. Going into a PhD program with 2 or 3 classes under your belt, you'll have more neuropsych coursework than many folks coming out of undergrad. If you're nervous and want more experience, it depends where in CT you are, but you can check with your professor to find out if there are any opportunities for clinical or (more likely) research experience in your area. And for readings, check the Neuropsych Central links pages for recommended books, or pick up a recent neuropsychology journal and start reading the articles.

Excellent, I actually just talked to an old professor today and he implied the same thing so I'm a bit more at ease now. I'm in the Hartford area so I'll def start looking for opportunities...plus I'll be doing my internship at the VA in Newington next year so I'll get more neuropsych experience under my belt which will be hands on so will be much more practical. Thanks for the advice...appreciate it
