Clinical Neuropsychologist
The Sports Concussion Institute is seeking a motivated, treatment-focused neuropsychologist to lead an innovative, dynamic, and rapidly growing clinical and research driven program from either the Los Angeles or Anaheim office. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology or an equivalent field and have completed a postdoctoral residency in neuropsychology, be licensed or licensable in Psychology in the State of California, and have experience working within an adolescent and adult outpatient brain injury and rehabilitation setting. Strength in oral and written communication and a passion for writing and empirically-based practice are essential. The candidate will ideally have experience in the management of concussion-related disorders and an interest in sports and athlete populations. Job responsibilities include neuropsychological evaluation and assessment, providing feedback and education to families and other healthcare professionals and members of the community (e.g. schools and athletic organizations), working with other staff to coordinate cognitive baseline programs for schools and organizations throughout the Los Angeles Metro area, clinical administrative duties and report-writing, and managing/supervising clinical students and personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience working with an interdisciplinary treatment team in a rehabilitation and/or assessment setting. Experience with writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals and/or other media is preferred.
Specific activities will relate to neurobehavioral clinical assessment and treatment planning, supervising other psychologists, externs or postdoctoral fellows, providing diagnoses and treatment recommendations for a wide array of neuropathological conditions including the full spectrum of head injuries, acute and chronic pain, memory disorders and neurodegenerative conditions, cerebrovascular disorders, epilepsy, substance abuse and a select range of neuropsychiatric conditions. Report writing, verbal communication with referral sources, feedback sessions with patients, treatment planning and exposure to the complexities of managed care contracts and billing will be important aspects of the position. Other responsibilities will include the preparation of articles for publication, assisting in writing grant proposals, and designing and implementing procedures for research coordination and data analysis.
SCI is an outpatient assessment and neurorehabilitation program based in Los Angeles, focused on empirically-based evaluation and intervention in a wide range of acquired and degenerative brain disorders (e.g., TBI, stroke, infectious or neurodegenerative disorders) and rehabilitation needs (e.g., pain, cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety, adjustment, family issues). SCI consults for and communicates with referral sources such as amateur/youth and professional sports organizations, school systems, medical providers, vocational rehabilitation centers, case managers, and a variety of community-based entities.
