|
|
Dear All,
I am struggling with a report for the court in a parenting case.
The client had some kind of anoxic brain injury at birth, leaving her partially sighted, but no mention of any other cognitive problems. However, has a alot of personality and emotional problems which affected her schooling.
In addition she has an approx 10 year history of quite heavy cannabis use, about 5-10 cigs a day on average.
On testing her VCI and POI on WAIS are consistent with premorbid estimate, low average, but WMI is in extremely low range (59) and PSI in borderline (71).
Her verbal memory is fine, eg 10th -25th percentile immed and delayed recall, with good retention.
The medical records are incomplete.
Anyone have any ideas on what the effects of cannabis use is on test scores?
thank you very much |

In terms of long-term effects, the answer is minimal if any. _________________ Lee Ashendorf, Ph.D.

| Also, C1 cells in hippocampal formation seem to be more sensitive to anoxia... which propably explains (at least partially) some of the WMI weaknesses you observe. |
