Hello syle,
is it possible that you mean the "Stroop test"? It's a test on interference/executive functioning and selective attention. Three cards are shown to the subject, the first one showing several rows with the name of colours (red, green, blue, yellow). The subject is asked to read them aloud as fast as he can without making errors. The second card shows several rows with coloured bars (red, green, blue, yellow). Same question. Like the first one, the third card shows several rows with the name of colours, but coloured in another way than the name would suggest (e.g. the word "blue" coloured in red). The subject is asked to name the colour and NOT to read out the word. In order to do this, the subject has to suppress his automatic built-in tendency to read the word. This takes some time and the more time it takes the more the subject is troubled by interference.
If this is indeed the task you are looking for, you'll find additional information on the web.
Bye,
