Hello all,
I am new to the board, and have found all of your postings very interesting and helpful.
I am currently in my first year in a PsyD program in Clinical Psychology and also work part time as a psychometrist under a team of clinical neuropsychologists. I love my job, and have gained great experience in the field. However, I am a bit confused as to what my scheduling should include in the upcoming years. I plan on completing my first practicum in a therapy-based setting to get exposure to psychotherapy, but I will do my other practium placements in neruo-based settings.
Should I do my internship is a neuro-based setting, or wait until I am in post-doc fellowship? My workplace has tenatively offered me a post doc assuming all goes well with couse work and practium, so I am not as concerned about that. I'm just looking for some advice on practium and internship settings. Thanks in advance for your time.

As long as you have some therapy and some neuropsych experience on practicum, you should be good to go. Also try to take whatever classes are available in neuropsych, including neuroanatomy.

Nobody really needs a 100% neuropsych internship, but there is an APA Division 40 recommendation / requirement that you have an internship with at least 50% of the time devoted to neuropsych (includes assessment, scoring, report-writing, supervision, didactics, etc.). So if neuropsych is your plan, I'd look for something that at least splits time with neuropsych. Having an internship with at least some neuropsych is probably a better match given your experience anyway. It's impressive that you have the postdoc set up. Good luck.
