| Hi... I need help with this situation. I currently have a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. During my coursework I discovered that I was interest in physiology, neuropsychology. Right now I have decided that that's what I want to become, a neuropsychologist. But I have some problems, the University that Im going to attend offers a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, not Clinical Psychology. But they offer courses like Neuropsychology, Neuropsychological Assessmente and others. My question is if I need to have a degree in Clinical Psychology in order to become a neuropsychologist? or if I can become one with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and courses in the area... Thanks you for your help. |

| A former professor of mine is a Counseling Ph.D. and is a licensed neuropsychologist so it is definitely possible. He also has a lot of reseach and publications to his name and though it never came up in conversation while at that university, I'm sure that was a vital aspect of achieving NP licensure. As long as you can get some solid research and clinical experience under your belt you shouldn't have any problem. |
