Hi all,
I am planning on heading back to college next year to study either a neurscience degree or a psychology degree... I would like to work in research in neuropsychology (eventually of course) and I am trying to decide what is the best approach, i.e whether to study psychology or neuroscience as my primary degree.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts on the matter.
btw i am brand new to the site so please be extra nice

i would say that a BS in psych and a minor in biology would be good for you...you need to learn about behavior, which psych covers, as well as the biological properties of the nervous system and behavior....so maybe that route would work fine.
just some thoughts but not liable advice.... |

I'd say get a degree in either one, but make sure you take at least a few classes in both. If you're more interested in doing research with real live humans, I'd give a slight edge to psychology as a major, but either one should be fine. Just make sure you try to get research experience as an undergrad. If you don't see ads for research assistants, after your freshman year, check with the chairperson of whatever department you choose and ask what research opportunities are available. That and choosing classes in both areas will be the most important things--whichever major you choose is probably less important. _________________ Lee Ashendorf, Ph.D.
