Do neuropsychologists(those working in a hospital setting) get to wear those white lab coats that doctors usually wear?
Also, can someone please describe a typical day in the neuropsychologists intern/residents work day? Do they work with neurosurgeons as well?
Please enlighten me.
Thanks
A future neuropsychologist |

I'm currently a graduate student who is waiting to hear about internships. So, please know the information I present here is from my practica and internship interview experiences.
In some settings, neuropsychologists do wear white lab coats to work. I have seen them in variour rehabilitation hospitals, a couple VA hospitals, and general hospitals.
Neuropsychologists are involved in many different daily activities from interviewing, testing, and providing feedback to patients and their families to conducting cognitive rehabilitation sessions and from administering Wada protocols to supervising students. The specific details depend on the location. I'm sure you can get more information from other students, interns, post-docs, and psychologists.
As for working directly with neurosurgeons, this also depends on the site. I know that many neurosurgeons are members of epilepsy teams. This is one specific meeting time when neuropsychologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons discuss cases. As a neuropsychologist, you can also receive numerous referrals from neurologists.
I hope this information helps. Let me know if you'd like more information.
Regards,
Michelle |

Hi! I'm an undergrad right now and am considering going into clinical neuropsych. I just started working with a neuropsychology lab at the University of Iowa, hoping to get more exposure to the field. However, I did have a question in regards to research.
How often is it that a neuropsychologist works primarily in a clinical setting, like a hospital or rehabilitation center, and doesn't do research? While I find it interesting, I don't know if I'd like to do research for my entire career.
Thanks for any help! _________________ Test king www.passforsure.co.uk
