This isn't an individual case study question, just a general one.
I'd like to get some imaging/diagnostics done. Who should I go see? A neuropsychiatrist, neuropsychologist, basic neurologist, clinical neurologist, or what? There seem to be so many neuro- speci alists, I don't know where to start.
Here's the problem: I've had complete emotional numbness for going on 15 years now (I'm 30). I've tried just about every medication psychiatrists can throw at me with no results. So I've got the sneaking suspicion it's a physical problem -- a lesion, tumor, necrosis, who knows? So I'd like to take some tests... MRI, catscan, whatever they do. I just don't know who to call to set it up. Help, please?
On a side note, if any researchers are interested in studying my brain to learn more about the nature of emotions, I'd be glad to volunteer. It would be nice if this problem ended up being useful to someone.
Thanks,
H. |

| Ask your PCP or your psychiatrist to refer you to a neurologist. |
